Tekno RC Team Report Week 27-28, 2018

Tekno RC Team drivers keep on winning week after week! Congratulations to Stephane Doucet, Steve DeArmon, Hector Muela, JaeKyun, Cole Cullings, Patrick Rossiter, Brian Bush, Carlos ArredondoJesse Munn and Mike Legue for their wins in USA, Canada, Mexico and South Korea! Report from each race follows:

Season Series, Race no 2 (CAN), report by Stephane Doucet:

Cap Pele RC Series, race no.2 recap:
The day started at 5:30am with a 2 1/2h drive. What looked like a warm sunny day, quickly changed to cold and windy.
I didn't know what to expect from the Tekno Short Course truck (SCT410.3) with a completely new setup. Luckily all it needed was a little bit of fine-tuning that helped me improve my times from first round to the last, placing me in the 2nd overall position. The race itself was a really close battle between the first four trucks, and I ended up in 3rd, just behind 2nd place

In electric truggy, our first round qualifier was halted a little more than after half into the race due to computer issues. So we lost those times. In Q2 & Q3 I was able to TQ. The start of the main was a battle and I struggled to keep the first position eventually losing it after a small mistake. I knew I had the fastest truggy on the track... kept focus and worked my way up to retake the lead and never looked back! This win placed me in the top position of the point series.

Boothill Payout Series Round 3 (US), report by Steve DeArmon:

The track was good and I qualified 2nd in E-Truggy. The heat along with the wind kept the track pretty dry and gusts of 20-25 mph kept us from jumping the triple forcing us to the 3 doubles. The first A-Main went well and after battling with Chris Lawson and David McCoy, I was able to stretch out the lead to 24 seconds at the finish! The 2nd A-Main had a great battle with McCoy until he made a mistake and I went on to cruise to a 25 second victory! My ET48.3 was on-point with 20/20/7 in the diffs and 55wt in the front shocks with 50 in the rear, green springs all around and 35mm ride height. Thank y,ou Tekno for the ride! Teknotakeover!!!

Tri State Off Road Championships (US), report by Hector Muela:

This was a great charity event with all proceeds going to the MDA Muscular Dystrophy Association and the track built by Joey "the Dirt" Christiensen.
Qualifying went well. Struggled to find a good tire choice with brutal over 100 degrees heat. But overall the race went well. TQed electric truck and finished 1st in the main... I really enjoy Truggy Class!

Tekno RC Cup (KR), report JaeKyun:

It was a great battle with teammate Mansoon Im, and I managed to put in consistent laps and won the class! It was great to have Tekno NB48.4's finishing 1st and 2nd!

Great Snake Shootout, NCT Round 3 (US), report by Cole Cullings:

I attended the Great Snake Shootout, round 3 of the North West Championship Tour. The track was built with short notice two weeks prior to the race and the dirt was great with a few modifications on practice day... it shaped up to be one of the best so far on the tour! I qualified 9th in Nitro Truggy, 15th Nitro Buggy, and TQ Electric Truggy. On mains day I won Round 1 and Round 2 to take overall in E Truggy. Overall my Tekno cars were on point. Want to thank Justin Wilde for directing the race and the Lewiston crew for their hard work in a short amount of time. Also, thanks to the Tekno crew, Jesse Munn, and Keith Hadley for all your help!

Great Snake Shootout (US), report by Jesse Munn:

Round #3 of the Northwest Championship Tour was held in Potlatch, Idaho. This would be the first time the series has visited Potlatch and just 3 weeks ago it was just a grassy field. A lot of work later by Palouse River RC and we were racing on an amazing track! Great job by all involved to pull off such an impressive feat and for bringing in a top-notch RD in Justin Wilde as well.

The 3-day event featured practice Friday, 3 rounds of qualifying Saturday and triple A-Mains on Sunday. My EB48.4 was absolutely amazing all weekend and I was able to TQ all 3 rounds of qualifying and win both of the first 2 mains to get the overall win! Congrats to teammate Cole Cullings on his Etruggy win with his ET48.3 and to Dan Thomas on a big Pro4 win with his SCT410.3 as well. Very cool to see so many Tekno vehicles doing well this weekend up here in the Pacific NW in all classes - #Teknotakeover

Mscs Nitro X Race 3 (US), report by Mike Legue: 

I decided to head down to northern Indiana last weekend for some last minute testing before the King of Kings race held at the same track next month. Turned out to be a great choice! I ran E-Buggy as well as nitro buggy. Both cars felt amazing as usual and I qualified 2nd in E-Buggy and 3rd in Nitro Buggy.

E-Buggy went fantastic! Serpent manager Paul Ciccarello made a small mistake on lap 1 of the 10 min main. That proved to be all I needed as I never looked back and took the win!

Nitro buggy didn't go great. Had a clunk get punched for the first time, then a header spring broke and locked up the flywheel. Simply dumb luck. Car was great but not much you can do about that.

SNOR National (MX), report by Carlos Arredondo:

"I attended the SNOR national this past weekend. This race was a 3-day event with practice on Friday and qualifiers on Saturday and mains Sunday. I TQed qualifying for Nitro Truck and Nitro Buggy but had some issues with E buggy and qualified 6th.
For the mains, we ran triple A's for E-Buggy and I was able to take the win in all 3. For buggy I would first have to race a semi-final which I would go on to win and line up 1st for the 1-hour final. The truck A-main wouldn’t go as planned with me having an issue early in the race but ended up still finishing in the 6 spot. For the hour buggy final, I was able to lead tone to tone and take the win."

Triple Crown Race (US), report by Brian Bush:

"The Triple Crown was a 3 Race series this spring, but I just recently received the awards. Underground Raceway is a high bite carpet with some high flying jumps and tight fun racing! I would TQ and win all three legs of this series, the EB410 was simply outstanding! My carpet setup has changed over the race series moving from a slipper back to the diff with the release of the composite gear sets... perfect with my 13.5 setup. Calvin put on a nice show that drew in some really great competition and I must say some really nice awards. Can't wait for next years series."

Big Bang Independence Day Trophy Race (US), report by Patrick Rossiter:

"Had a great time at Beach RC & Hobbies yesterday. Got the EB410 closer to the way it needs to be to do battle out west next month. I took the win in 13.5, but Lil Jackson made me work for it! That youngin is stealthy!! This race had more patriotism shown than a bald eagle eating an apple pie at a baseball game played on the White House lawn! #GoodTimes #Merica #TeknoTakeover"
