Traxxas-Sponsored Dean Wilson Takes Second in St. Louis

Latest race news from Traxxas:

Saint Louis, MO: Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki/Traxxas’ Dean Wilson finished his rookie season in AMA Supercross Lites competition on the podium inside the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis. Wilson took second in his heat race and posted the second fastest time in qualifying, then rode to his best finish of the season, taking second place in the Main. Wilson’s teammate Christophe Pourcel was crowned the overall 250 East champ at the previous race, but had bad luck in St. Louis when he was bumped into the Tuff Blocks at the start and was down a full lap before he could get his bike back in the race. Rather than risk tangling with riders still racing for their position in the series, the champ rolled the track and let the other riders battle it out. “It took me forever to get the bike off the tuff block,” said Pourcel. “Once I got going, first place was just about to pass me. I didn’t want to get in the way of the racing and didn’t feel comfortable after I got bumped out.”

In the Main, Wilson got a good start out of the gate and was in second after the first lap. On the third lap, Wilson went down just before the finish line and fell back to fourth. After collecting himself, Wilson charged back up to finish second. “I knew I could win this race, so I’m not as happy as I probably should be,” said Wilson. “I am happy to be on the podium after my last-lap crash in Houston, but I just felt really strong all day and knew this was a huge opportunity for me.”

Both Pourcel and Wilson have a short break before the East/West Shootout in Las Vegas. Traxxas-sponsored Jake Weimer and Josh Hansen are now set to be center stage as the final two rounds of the West Coast series begin this week in Seattle. Weimer holds a 14-point lead in the series and is looking to claim his first Supercross title. Tune into SPEED on April 25, 5pm Eastern (2pm Pacific) to catch all the action!
