This Mega-Sized Mini is JET Powered! [READER’S RIDE]
Jerome Swift is the proprietor of JS Hobbies and Models, and he envisioned this turbine powered WRC Mini as a fun way to promote his shop. He tells us that it was one of his most complex and challenging builds, which took him a year to complete. Power comes from a JetCat P80 Jet Turbine with Kero Start System, all run by a Version 6 ECU. There is a custom oversized alloy fuel tank that is split, and it holds jet fuel and smoke fluid for the Power Systems Smoke System. A custom alloy turbine, a fuel tank, electronics, and suspension mounts position everything on the modified Losi 5IVE chassis. There is a fully operational pneumatic roof-mounted air brake, and Jerome is working on installing hydraulic brakes so that he can remove the center-diff assembly for a more freewheeling drivetrain.
