A Main Hobbies To Host A Day At The Races For Boys & Girls Clubs Of The North Valley
A Main Hobbies announced yesterday that it will be welcoming 15 lucky members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the North Valley on May 13, 2011 at 4 P.M. for a special day of radio-controlled racing.
The event was offered by A Main Hobbies as a prize at the annual Valentine’s Gala, a black-tie dinner and auction that serves as an important fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Clubs. Craig Wenner, a Boys & Girls Club board member, won the auction and donated the prize to the club.
“The kids are pumped, and we’re all really looking forward to it,” said Joseph Hejl, Chief Operations Officer for the Boys & Girls Clubs of the North Valley. “We picked five kids from each of the three clubs: Chico, Orovile, and Paradise, who have had a really great year with solid attendance, good grades in school, and excellent program participation.”
“We’re very excited to have the children here for a fun day of racing, and I’m sure the accompanying adults will enjoy it as well,” said Kendall Bennett, CEO of A Main Hobbies. “We’re proud to be involved with such a great program in our community.”
A Main Hobbies will host the event at Outback Raceway, located in the rear of the company’s warehouse in Chico, Calif. , where the young racers will find a challenging mix of jumps, corners, and elevation changes along a sticky clay surface that tests racers of all ages and ability levels. In addition, A Main Hobbies will be providing five identically prepared Traxxas Slash trucks, which are modeled after the full size off-road racing machines of the nation-wide TORC Series that airs on Discovery Channel TV, as well as a full crew of team members to provide instruction and mechanical assistance.
