Winter Racing League – Final Round

This past weekend was the final round of the Winter Racing League (WRL) at CRCRC. JConcepts Team Driver JP Richards was in attendance running modified 2wd buggy. Going into the final round of the series, JP would need a TQ and finish at least 2nd or just finish 1st. The race was well attended with over 100 entries.

Round 1 started very rough for JP as he was only able to manage 4th place but JP had the fast lap of the round. For Round 2, JP mounted up a fresh set of V1 Gold Bar Codes. The race was a battle between Dan Griffin and JP, the lead swapped multiple times, but in the end JP TQed by 1.5 seconds. In Round 3 the track was getting a bit slower and JP was able to hold onto his TQ from Round 2.

In the Main Event, JP made a slight bobble mid-way through the first lap but it only sent him back to 3rd. The top 3 freight trained around the track for 2 minutes until a slight bobble by Dan put JP’s younger brother Luke up into the lead spot and JP in second with Dan now in 3rd. Luke led for a couple minutes then a bobble by him put JP in 1st, Dan now up to 2nd, and Luke in 3rd. Dan soon moved into the lead and led the rest of the race with JP close on his bumper looking for a way around. On the last lap headed down the straight JP and Dan had it pinned not knowing who would win. The final result came down to 0.007. In the end, it was JP Richards taking the win and the overall victory for the series.
