Short Course Showdown Round 4

Event: Short Course Showdown Round 4
Date: September 16-18, 2011
Track: Mike’s Hobby Shop – Carrollton, TX

Well the 4th and final round of the Short Course Showdown is in the books and we at JConcepts had a blast.

Here is a quick summary of our race weekend:

We ran a total of 4 rounds of qualifying with 2 resorts; one resort after the 2nd round and another after the 3rd round. BK and I were able to put in top ten runs each round with Brian qualifying 2nd overall and me 7th overall in the Mod 2wd class. BK also qualified directly into the A-main of 4×4; with a few traffic issues he ended up 4th on the grid. With some bad luck early in qualifying; Dave Duncan stepped up in the last round and put in a solid A-main run.

With the A-mains all set, all we could do is hurry up and wait! For the stock division, Duncan was the first up out of the JC crew and he didn’t disappoint! Coming from 7th on the grid, he quickly made his way up to 2nd! Once in 2nd he put his sights on the leader and made his way to the front. After leading several laps, the race heated up between the top 4 guys as they exchanged the lead, lap after lap. In the end, Duncan finished on his first podium of the year taking 3rd overall!

BK and I were next up in the Mod 2wd class. Brian had a great start from the 2nd spot and held his position for the entire 7 minutes for a 2nd overall. I had a pretty good start from 7th and quickly made my way up to the 5th spot. I held this position for the entire race until making a small mistake on the final lap and giving up the position for a 6th overall.

The last main was the 4×4 class were BK had some horrible luck with traffic. He battled mid pack for a while before breaking on the double table-top section, putting him 9th overall.

Once again JConcepts was really happy to be a part of the 2011 Short Course Showdown Series. Scotty and all the host tracks did a fantastic job providing some of the best racing in the country and we certainly look forward to the 2012 series!
