Race Team Update – July 2020 Week #3

The JConcepts race team keeps running strong as July is quickly coming to an end. To see where our drivers are making podiums at around the world please read this week’s Race Team Update!

Let’s start this week’s report in Irving, TX at the recent WFO For Wilcox trophy race at a Wild Bill’s Raceway. We had several drivers in attendance so let’s see how the team performed.

Team driver Robert Chapman competed in both the Outlaw Sprint and Midwest Modified classes and finished in 3rd in the Sprint class and took the TQ and win in Midwest Modified! His tire of choice for both cars were the JConcepts Green compound Dirt Webs in the front and Green compound Ellipses in the rear.

Also competing at this event was team mate Kevin Lenderman. He competed in three classes: SC Modified, Midwest Modified, and Outlaw Sprint. In the SC Modified class he qualfied 2nd in the Main and finished in third overall while using the JConcepts Dirt Webs in the Green compound. In the Midwest Modified and Outlaw Sprint classes he qualified into lower mains and wasn’t able to transfer out to the main event. Both of those rides where using Green compound Dirt Webs up front with Ellipses in the rear.

Another one of our drivers in attendance at this event was Shane Wheeler. He competed in two classes, and in the Outlaw Sprint class he started in the C Main and was’t able to bump up into a higher main. In the Midwest Modified class he qualified in 5th to start the A Main but after some bad luck on lap one he fell behind the pack and wasn’t able to make his way back up to the podium in time. He said he still had fun racing and used the JConcepts Blue compound Ellipses all the way around on both cars.

Now let’s head north to Missouri to check in on the team. JConcepts driver Braxten Culley attended Round 2 of The Dirt Series at Chicken Dinner Raceway in Neosho. He set the TQ in both the 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes and would come away with the win in the nitro class! He used Blue compound Reflexes on both cars and we have a winner winner down at Chicken Dinner!

Staying in Missouri let’s now head over to Fastlane Raceway for Round 2 of their 2020 Slideways Summer Dirt Oval Series in Blue Springs. Team driver Jeremy Cathlina reports that he took the TQ and win in in the Open Sprint class! He said he started out the day on Green compound Sprinters and finished off the event using a combination of Silver compound Ellipses and Dirt Webs.

Next, let’s hop up to Iowa and check in with driver Brandon Kearney. He returned to carpet racing this past weekend competing at Bad Fast Hobbies in Sioux City. He competed in both the Mod 2wd and 13.5 4wd buggy classes for Round 2 of their 2nd Annual Summer Series. In Mod 2wd he would finish 2nd on the podium and in the 4wd class he would TQ and finish in 2nd as well. He said in the 2wd class his Team Associated B6.2 was running JConcepts Swaggers in the front, Twin Pins in the rear and a S2 body, while his wheeler was using Swaggers in the front, Nessi tires in the rear, and it was topped off with a F2 body.

Moving up north again, JC driver Joe Scaramell attended the 1st round of the MNRC Off-Road Racing Series held at FTR Raceway in Foley, MN. He would finish in 9th place in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class and 3rd place in the 40+ 1/8 Nitro Buggy class! He said he ran Blue compound Reflexes in qualifying and switched to the R2 compound for the mains.

Heading east over to Wisconsin, JConcepts driver Ryan Derenne attended his home track Dirt Heaven Hobby and Raceway in New Franken for Round 5 of their Summer Series. The indoor track had a fresh layout and he competed in 3 classes: 4wd Buggy, 40+ 2wd Buggy and Mod Stadium Truck. In the the 4wd class he would set the TQ and take the win by almost a full lap! His wheeler was on rails thanks to the JConcepts Silver compound Ellipses, a F2 body, and Aero wing package. In the 40+ class he started and finished in 2nd place after a good battle in the Main. He ran the same JConcepts package as his wheeler in this class too. In the Mod Truck class he would qualify in 3rd and move up to the 2nd podium spot by the end of the main. On that ride he said he ran Green compound Double Dees topped off with a Finnisher body.

Jumping over to Michigan, our driver Kyle Munson raced last weekend at M40 RC raceway in Gobles for their 2nd round of their points series. He competed in the 2wd SCT class and started in position 3 for the main and after the dust had settled he came away with the win! He said his TLR 22 SCT was on point that days thanks to the JConcepts Choppers in the rear and Carvers up front.

JC team driver Jeff Todd went to Walter’s RC Park in Saranac, MI for some racing last Saturday. The track surface was dry and dusty so he opted for JConcepts Green compound Rips in the front on his 17.5 2wd Buggy and Green compound Carvers on his SCT. Both vehicles used JConcepts Green compound Sprinters in the rear and it must have been the right choice since he captured two podiums on the day! His buggy used the Mono wheels in the white color option, a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance Rear Wing and the JConcepts 2wd front wing and 3D printed mount. His SCT used the JConcepts Black color option Hazard +3mm wheels and an Illuzion Hi-Flow SCT Body, and both vehicles also used the JConcepts brass D block and Servo Mount Bracket.

JC driver Collin Miles reports that he took the TQ and Win at Dirt Burner Raceway in Livonia, MI. Aiding him in the win was the JConcepts Silver compound Ellipses and a P2 body. Now let’s fly out to the East Coast to see how the team ran this past week.

JC driver Barry Goodwin attended the recent Stock Nationals race held at Cruizin With R/C’ in Waldwick, NJ. He was able to finish in the top three for all the classes he competed in and said that the JConcepts Nessi and Swaggers tires worked great in the buggy classes all day while in the Stadium Truck class the JConcepts Swaggers and Pin Downs were the way to go!

Team driver Ken Rand Jr. competed at the recent Cash Days Series at City View Raceway in Concord, VA. He competed in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class and came away with the win! He said he took the victory while using the JConcepts Triple Dees in the R2 compound.

JC driver Vince McMahon attended a recent event at Newberry RC Park in Newberry, FL. The track has been closed for about one year but the racers came together to get the track back into race conditions! He competed in the both the 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes and would end up on the podium for both! In the 2wd class he secured 3rd place on the podium using JConcepts Reflexes in the front and Sprinters in the rear both in the Green compound. After a brief rain before the Main in the 4wd class, he switched over from Sprinters to Green compound Double Dees and took 2nd overall.

Now let’s check in with our overseas team to see how they are performing. Team driver Lewis Jones reported that he attended the 1st 2020 race at Nemo Raceway at Royal Leamington Spa, England and finished 2nd on the podium in the Nitro 1/8 Buggy class! His tire of choice was the JConcepts Stalkers in the Aqua compound.

Finally, JC driver Lachlan Donnelly competed at Round 2 of the NSW Series in Sydney, Australia. He competed in both the 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes and set the TQ in 4wd and almost got the double TQ with his 2wd car! After both mains were ran, he would end up in 2nd place on the podium in the 2wd class and 3rd overall in the 4wd class. The track surface outside was low grip so he used JConcepts Green compound Sprinters along with Black compound Ellipses and Dirt Webs on all of his cars. He also ran the JConcepts Aero S Type Wing, the Aero S-Type Rear Wing Center Divider, a front Aero wing, Light-weight P2 body and Fin Titanium F&R Shock Stand-offs.
