2016 JConcepts Summer INS – Saturday qualifying results with complete qual points!

10 July, 2016

After a relaxed night of seeding on Friday, Saturday turned out to be much more intense as drivers were pushing themselves to the limit and testing their boundaries. For some, it was a rewarding day and for others it was much more difficult as the high grip track conditions and technical layout did not allow you to lose focus or push too hard.

In the modified truck class, we had 3 different drivers TQ each of the 3 rounds. Round 1 would go to Rivkin, round 2 was TLR/JConcepts’ Max Flurer and the final round to Kyosho/JConcepts’ Tanner Day.

The overall would be decided by tie-breaker between Rivkin and Flurer, but ultimately Rivkin would take top honors and Flurer 2nd on the grid. Day would finish with 3 points giving him the 3rd.

With unmatched performance in the modified 4wd class, AE/JConcepts’ Spencer Rivkin was on fire setting fastest time in each and every round giving the young WC the pole position in tomorrow’s 5 minute triple A-mains.

Good friend and AE teammate, Tommy Hinz would showcase his talent by finishing 4th in round 2 and 2nd in round 3 to give Hinz 2nd overall in qualifying. TLR’s Derek Stephansen would come on strong after the 1st round giving the California native the 3rd spot in tomorrow’s A-mains with a 2nd in round 2 and 5th in round 3. With the exception of Rivkin, the field was back and forth all day so tomorrow’s finals should be just even more exciting because of the extended 8 minute single A-main.

However, 2wd modified was a different story as it wasn’t a clean sweep by the World Champion, Spencer Rivkin. Putting down the fastest time in round 1 over Tommy Hinz and Derek Stephansen, who finished 2nd and 3rd respectively, round 2 was a very close battle between Rivkin and Kyosho/JConcepts’ Tanner Day.

Day would emerge quickest in round 2 by just .03 seconds over Rivkin that would force a 3rd round and allow the two drivers to battle it out for TQ in round 3. With a vengance, Rivkin would TQ round 3 by over 8 seconds. Tommy Hinz would finish 2nd and Day in 3rd.

We are also very proud of AE/JConcepts’ Kamryn Ayers for taking the overall TQ in 17.5 SC with two TQ’s in rounds 1 and 3. A true competitor, Kamryn is always giving it 100% and it is fabulous to watch on the track.

Also, taking the 40+ modified 2wd class, AE team manager Brent Thielke would take the overall with a clean sweep and start on pole for tomorrow’s mains.
